Lamb, Potato & Bean Soup (Abgoosht)
Persian, one-pot comfort food. Abgoosht is an ancient Persian and Mesopotamian stew. The recipe for this dish is thousands of years old!
It is also called ‘Dizi’, which refers to the traditional stone crocks it is served in. Slow cooked lamb, potato, tomato, beans and dried limes are combined together and cooked until done. The solids are traditionally mashed and served with the broth in a separate dish however, why separate the two when you can have both?
Ours is made with our homemade lamb stock (made using lamb bones) which takes 3 days in total to make!

INGREDIENTS
Lamb, Onion, Tomatoes, Dried Limes, Tomato Puree, Lamb Stock (Vegetable Oil (Palm, Sunflower), Potato Starch, Salt, Maltodextrin, Yeast Extract, Sugar, Flavourings, Lamb (0.8%), Onion Powder (0.5%), Spices (Garlic, Pepper, Paprika, Turmeric, Celery Seeds), Rosemary), Chickpeas, White Beans, New Potatoes, Salt, Pepper, Water.
ALLERGY ADVICE
For allergens, see ingredients in bold. Produced in a kitchen that handles nuts, traces may be present. May contain sulphites. Caution. Although every care has been taken to remove all bones, some may remain.
STORAGE
Keep frozen below -18°c. Once defrosted store below 5°c. Should this product defrost, keep refrigerated and eat within 48 hours. Follow the hob or microwave guidelines but cook for 6 minutes, stir, then 2 minutes.
COOKING INSTRUCTIONS
Best cooked from frozen. Cooking appliances vary, this is a guide only. Ensure that food is piping hot before serving. Do not re-heat.
HOB FROM CHILLED
Allow to defrost. Empty contents into a saucepan, put on a medium heat and bring to the boil before serving.
MICROWAVE FROM FROZEN
Remove outer packaging. Pierce film lid. Heat on full power for 9 minutes (850W). Peel back film and stir through. Re-cover. Heat on full power for 2 minutes (850W). Stand for 2 minutes.
